I’m feeling bored, and decided to make a post about some of my little quirks.
When I’m watching something, if there are subtitles, I automatically read them even if what I’m watching is already in a language I understand. Probably borne from my anime habits.
Sometimes when I’m trying to sleep, I imagine myself in a situation where I’m physically fighting people. It helps me relax :/ I basically imagine what I’d do if my opponent does this or that to me. Like choreographing my attack. A side effect is that I tend to kick or punch in real life while on my bed when I’m doing this.
When I walk by something that has a caption on it, like in a museum, I have a habit of trying to read the captions or text etc. Till this day I’m a bit peeved that I was so rushed while I was in Turkey in ‘06 that I couldn’t read the info beneath the paintings and displays at certain stops. I also do this when I look at the packaging for toys :/
I tend to mimic others’ speech patterns after talking to them for prolonged periods of time. It’s the reason why my cousin’s friends whom I’ve never met can recognize me as “Ching Wei’s cousin”.
I need to finish all the food on my plate. It takes conscious effort not to.
When I play games, sometimes I can spend ages trying to collect everything collectible. I call it my partial OCD.
When I’m walking, I avoid stepping on cracks and the lines that separate floor tiles and pavement.
When I’m bored I start shadow fighting (as long as I’m around people whom I am familiar with).
I like to do things evenly. For example, when I’m tapping the floor with my feet, sometimes I feel the need to tap with both feet either together or for an equal number of times :/
I blink hard when I’m trying to pay attention. My head tilts to one side when I’m not. If you pay attention you can watch my head slowly lean to one side during lectures :P
Sometimes I use sleeping as an excuse to think about something important. It’s easier to concentrate on something with my eyes closed and in total darkness.
I reeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllly hate it when someone calls or texts me when I’m sleeping. It’s the reason I have a “no contacting me by phone past midnight” rule (just in case I’m already asleep). Only emergencies are exempt from this rule. If you’re going to say “why don’t you turn off your phone”, the reason I don’t is because I want to be prepared in case of a real emergency. (Btw, if someone tries this on me, prepare to shouted at. Well, not shouted at, I don’t think I’d have enough energy in a half-dazed state). This might fall under pet peeves, really (though it’s a bit more than that, to be honest).
